1) SPONSORSHIPS - $9750!
2) DIRECT DONATION FUNDRAISER - $7945!
a) 132 donations so far
b) Ends on 9/29
c) The class with the highest participation will get to have a pizza/popsicle party
3) TREASURER - $28,565 in bank!
4) SPIRIT WEAR - $5274!
a) Fall collection ends 9/21
b) Adding an event tee (Backyard BBQ) i) $15 for tee plus free ticket for a carnival game ii) Sell at PTO table on BBQ day
c) Next collection will run from 11/8-11/19 i) New items added
d) Adding an “Office Pickup” option for orders that come from outside the school
e) Advertise at Bethesda Market i) Big banner inside ii) Yard signs along the road?
5) HOSPITALITY
a) 9/23 will be a teacher’s cart provided by 5th Grade
b) Includes soda, chips, small candy bars, apples and cuties
c) Drinks will be cold
d) The cart will be decorated
e) Lindsey, Erin and Melissa will be there at 1pm
f) Soups in October g) Firehouse potentially in November
6) SPIRIT NIGHTS
a) Tatiana is taking over this committee
b) Culver’s is the next one on 9/28 i) Teachers will be at Culver’s from 5-8pm
c) Farmer’s Market (Thompson’s Station) will be in October i) PTO table will be at the market ii) No raffles allowed iii) Kids encouraged to wear spirit wear
d) Grecian will be in November
e) Sonic will be in December
f) $111 was made at the Andy’s Custard night
7) BACKYARD BBQ - 10/22
a) Separate meeting to go over all the details
b) Classes will contribute a craft
8) PHOTO FUNDRAISER - 11/6
a) Start advertising in early October
b) $40 for 2 poses and 2 digital images
c) One day only, 5 minutes apart
9) SAVE THE DATE
a) Lindsay will send Ms. Justus a list of all upcoming events from now until end of the year so that they can be promoted in the newsletter
10) BUS DRIVER BREAKFAST - Monday, 12/13 a) Will provide breakfast and a gift b) Gift will be a blue zip hood that says Bethesda across the front
11) DRIVE THRU SANTA - 12/5 a) Give out jingle bell necklaces and candy canes b) Kids can bring their letters for Santa
12) ONLINE BASKET AUCTION - TBD (December) a) Circle back on the date
13) HONEYBAKED HAM FUNDRAISER
a) $40 raised so far
b) Available online now thru 12/31
14) DRAGON TREE PLANS
a) Meeting tonight
b) Signup Genius will be sent out to school for donations
c) Items will be collected at the school
d) Will be given to the families before Thanksgiving, PTO will help pass out
e) Tammy is passing this on to Dot Scott
15) GAGA BALL PIT
a) Tatiana’s husband came out to see and provided a quote of $400-$500
b) Ms. Justus is waiting for county to come out and approve
c) Lindsay motioned to approve spending the money, Erin second, all said yes
d) APPROVED!
16) SUMMIT SPIRIT NIGHT - 10/1
a) Meetup point in parking lot before game
b) Students will be allowed in free if they wear Spirit Wear
c) Students will be given a coupon for a free candy bar to redeem at the snack bar and PTO will pay the bill d) Need signs made for students to hold on field - Tatiana?
e) Competing with Thompson’s Station Elementary, want to have the most students there
17) PRINCIPAL REPORT
a) Thank you Kocoa for the Crumble Cookies gift cards, the teachers loved it!
b) On a monthly basis, the school will be given $25 gift cards (2) paid with personal funds by PTO members i) October - Erin Ward , ii) November - Lindsay, iii) December - Erin, iv) January - Jen, v) February - Amanda, vi) March - Suz, vii) April - Tatiana, viii) May - Kasi
c) Request for $1,000 for teacher moral fund i) Lindsay motioned to approve spending the money, Jen second, all said yes ii) APPROVED!
d) Snack and drink donations are welcome anytime and the teachers really appreciate it.
e) Shug’s Ice Cream truck will come to the school for 80-85 staff
f) Classrooms need new digital boards i) $4000 each ii) Lindsay motioned to approve spending $8000 on 2 new boards, Erin second, all said yes iii) APPROVED!
g) Big news - Bethesda was named a Rewards School! i) Teachers will be allowed to wear jeans for the rest of the month ii) Tatiana/Lindsay will work on balloon arch and banner outside the entrance to promote iii) Retractable badge holders/lanyard designating this accomplishment will be ordered for the staff to use iv) PTO to provide small snack to celebrate (1) 560 kids (2) 80 staff
h) Lots of complaints about drop off and pick up regarding parents cutting in the line from Bethesda Road i) Ms. Justus will request a crossing guard to help regulate this
i) School needs new walkie-talkies for the staff to use i) $240 each ii) Need 60 total, have 27 so far iii) Lindsay motioned to spend $3500 to buy 14 walkie-talkies now, Jen second and all said yes iv) APPROVED!
j) 5th grade needs more balls for outside i) Teachers will be encouraged to do a grant request for these ii) Ms. Justus will ask teachers to request donations from parents in 5th grade for balls
